And a random fact for this blog:
ShortSweetIndulgence doesn't read books. It stares them down until it gets the information it wants.

Chipmunk'ed Day
What to do when there are holidays coming this week? Catch a movie with my roommate. Yep, it's gotta be the chipmunks movie. It's such a nice break to shift my attention to something funnier and cute. I chose to watch this movie since I was the chipmunk fan when I was little. Gee, Theodore's adorable and innocent.
After spending more than 8 hours walking, shopping, eating and talking we went home. The next few days will be notes analysing days for my fyp (uphill task) and then, it will be Christmas! I look forward to these 3 days.

Important Point
Thursday, December 06, 2007
We are at "Bakers' Cottage" for a day.
We started at about 9 am in the morning. All ingredients to make the cake is set. It would be a butter cake, laced with whip cream and topped with peaches.
It was my first baking experience coz i don't have an oven at home. This friend of mine really is the all time baker. She has not only the usual items used for baking but the cake deco items as well and 'spare-parts' that can be dug from the big ice compartment. It's just like a bakery coz there are ample ingredients for us to bake cakes anytime we wished to.
First we weighted and measured all the ingredients that we are using: butter, flour, baking soda, baking powder, corn oil, sugar and eggs.
Pre-heating the oven at 180 Celsius, making the cake lining, the cake was baked within 30 minutes. It was fast. We set aside the cake to cool b4 decorating it.
Meanwhile, we planned to do chocolate moist cake. This cake technique is trickier in the sense that it is not baked, but steamed. Yes, we did not use the oven to bake it, we use the big pot in the wok to steam it. Making the choc sauce was the trickiest coz we kept tasting and adding the ingredients to make it sweet. We adhered to the recipe just like we did for the butter cake and the choc moist cake. For the chocolate sauce it tasted bitter and waterry no matter how much sugar, flour and condensed milk we added. So, since it was 1 something already, we took a lunch break. We went to Bayan Baru to have lunch and also to find a box for our birthday cake. Also, to see if we have any idea to make the choc sauce 'sweeter & thicker'. We went to the bakery in Sunshine Square to buy a box but they refused to sell it. So we went to the market but the shop is closed. In the end, we purchased that cake box from the bakery near the row of banks for rm2. That box was very important for us to put that bday cake in. We went back to yokee's house to continue to amend the taste of the sauce and cake decorating!
Several attempts of stirring the sauce mixture and dunno wat else to add in, we tasted the choc moist cake first. It was moist and sweet enough. Simpy delicious from the steam wok so... no need to add so much sugar for the sauce! 2 things mix together is the best compliment! Ironically the gas stove that is not working properly produced the nicest choco moist cake compared to the other stove which is working fine. lol (We initially wanted to give the round shape choco moist to another fren but since it turned out otherwise, we use the square cake which sits on the unpredictable functional but uneven heat supply stove). ;P
In the midst of doing the sauce and hunting for the box, we smsed the bday gal to see if she's around at home. She's not at home, apparently doing her FYP at usm so she's in her hostel. So things are easier for us to find her, since she's nearby but she'll have to refrigerate the cake coz whipped cream melts or turns soft easily.
We went to meet her after completing our cakes. And only then we discovered her birthday is on 17 dec. muahaha... we played guessing game coz we make the cake assuming her bday is in dec..roughly emm 7 dec. Anyway, even the more surprised she was. She said the cake must be bought, not made coz it looked so perfect! haha.. coz the box that we bought is from the bakery, and the cream spreaded was 'quite' even with the neatly arranged peaches on top.
To make things funnier, when the bday gal said "No, this must be from warung kek..u said u bake the cake.(on the box printed warung kek ...)". But my fren accidentally heard it as "No, this must be a round cake. u said we 'bayh' (meaning 'buy' in Hokkien)".. to which she replied, "Of course it's a round cake, it's obviously round!! Of course we bake the cake, we didn't 'bayh'".
'advanced' bday gal replied, "Just now i said warung cake u said round cake. Now i believe 3 of u baked it, u now insist i still said u bought it" -_-"" "U got hearing problem ah?". wakaka
Bakers' Day was fun, the 3 of us had a wonderful time. Advanced bday gal was touched and another friend got the choco moist cake delivered at her doorstep and another friend at the workplace.
At the end of the day it was:
3 cakes baked. (one bday cake for bday gal doing FYP, the round not so smooth cake for 3 of us, the square one- divided to 2 for 2 friends).
6 people shared the joy from 3 homemade cakes! yay!
The choco moist cake was the best choco cake!. Coz it's not the too sweet type, or bitter or too 'jelak' feeling that's sold outside. Just nice..yummy!

On Cloud 9
Yay! My poem is one of the best! Yippy!
A reward for me to attend a concert and go for a short trip down KL after my exams! My last trip to KL was in July, 4 months ago. Last year in August I was there after getting a free shopping voucher at Ikea courtesy of Lite FM too. I'm so lucky with Lite FM!
Dionne Warwick is here in KL, in conjunction with Live and Loud 07.
Oh..I'm on Cloud 9 to be part of this cool event!
I will further update about this event in the next few days.
This coming Sunday, things are happening all over KLCC, KL Convention Centre and many other places as Live and Loud starts on 25 nov till 2 dec.
Now I'm looking for accomodation, on which hotel to stay. KL golden triangle hotels, including Shangri-La are 5 star hotels, and the deluxe rooms are fully booked. Superior ones cost RM 500++...
Till then, brb.

A look on what's happening in MGS
Yesterday they had a Chirstmas bazaar. Yup, very early indeed. It's more than a month b4 Christmas. We saw this event on the Metro section in the Star paper and decided to check it out. It's situated at 250-B Jalan Air Itam.
To make directions simpler to go to this place: It is clustered together with the Hospice and Japanese Association buildings, directly opposite Han Chiang high school. The bungalow of this assoc is right inside the small road, in blue. Hospice is in beige-orange, whilst Japanese assoc is white. We were quiet 'sesat' coz this is the first time we were going there. Guess what, since the address is Jln Air Itam we ended searching through the whole Air Itam (signs on the roads display Air Hitam) right up to Kek Lok Si. We started targeting addresses right after Chung Ling High School. On the left were odd numbers so up we went to KLS, U-turn to and came accross even numbers addresses. But numbers range from single digits to 600+ numbers. Finally, got an idea! Proceeded to search the small area off the road after state mosque and bingo. It's there la.
The place- once you enter on your right is the library. It is stocked with, well, German books. Ranging from History to Humor. There are English books as well. Novels in German are also available. Readable if proficiency is high enuff =P. On the left is where cookies, home-made jams and German sausages (die Wurst) are sold. Upstairs there is a classroom, and in the hall, home-made cakes are sold. There are a variety of cakes. The chocolate cakes (die Schokoladentorte) must not be missed. Even the sellers kept on uttering "Schokoladentorte... ja, ja" to the customers. They were the must trys. Other varieties include Apricot, butter cakes, walnut-coffee, coconut and fruit pastries. They were selling out fast although they cost about RM5 per piece. The taste...wunderbar! Wonderful! Very tasty as the flavours, be it butter, choc or apricot flavours are enhanced as u pop them in your mouth. Since they are home-made, they tasted like those home-mades. Meaning the recipes used are prepared using home techniques with the ready made ingredients. That's why there's a lil ginger taste in the chocolate and bits of nuts here and there. Even the for the apricot cake, some apricot parts were juicy and some-the normal dry apricots.
Outside the premises they were selling those Christmas ornaments that you can hang on the X-Mas trees. Prices ranged from RM 5 to RM 10++. They were all hand-made by Ingel, as were written on the card next to the decos. A X-Mas card costs RM8, and coz it's hand made most of the cards have unique designs with not too many repetition of the same designs. What else can I say about this place... it's a place where they have events throughout the year like movie screenings, language classes and festivals for fund raising. They are supported by members of the expatriats and their family members who work here and for the public. Entrance is free so everyone can just go and have a look and mix around. ;-)

Narrowed Down Choices
Next on their specific models.
As mentioned before, I am looking for a compact category digicams, also value for $ and with style. Camera models that come close are : Canon (IXUS 70,75, SD 850 IS and PowerShot A720 IS). Meanwhile for Sony (Cybershot DSC-W55, DSC-W80, DSC-W35).
In terms of pricing, they fall in the range of RM 799 - RM 1499! The reason I was attracted to the RM 1499 (out of budget) is the good reviews and many other features that u would want in a compact digicam. BTW, SD 870 has the best review (rated A) and most ideal but it is only available in the States, not in MY yet. If it reaches here, starting price would be RM 1699 onwards, which is out of my budget. But the features are really really cool.
Sony Cybershot range come in fun colours : special baby blue, so sweet pink, sleek solid black and ever-shining silver. (i add those adjectives beside the colour coz that's how it appeals to me).
Pricing for Sony products are always high, but the DSC ranges are value for $, comparable in features too. Also very beautiful and sleek are the T series but I still prefer the lense to be in the centre (coz T series lenses are located on the top corners), so DSC lor. Both brands are between 7.1 megapix to 8 megapix. So I am comparing the price, features, point and shoot factors (minus the fuss of adjusting this and that prior to shooting), battery lifetime and peek to see whether the shops do give the SD memory card or separate memory stick as required by respective models for free..hehe. Most brands include battery chargers and lithium batteries but not external memory.
Now it's time to wait for the discount or sales promotions to begin... ;-)
Meanwhile, I can google further on these products...

Hip Hip Hurray!
After enduring 2 stressful weeks I can break free from this big burden of preparing for exams, at least before my second semester begins in December.
I shall have more time to sleep, hang-out with friends, shopping, writing poems..? and perhaps plan what kinda digital camera to buy. I have minimal knowledge on digicams...what kind is suitable for what purpose and with so many brands in the market with competitive prices i just dunno which one to choose.
I am looking for a compact-slim sized digicam with at least 7 megapix. Since i am a beginner, it must be easy to operate with some image stabiliser in it. (I want sharp pictures not blurry ones..) Budget hmmm...i believe putting between RM 700-1.2K will land me with a cool camera. But a big hole in my pocket =p
But i am uncertain when I will make the move to purchase it. I am waiting for year-end sales where they give memory cards for free. Meanwhile, I am eyeing on brands like Canon, Nikon, Olympus. Panasonic and Sony cameras are so cool too...so hard to resist...yaaa..dunno la.

After Celebrations
My cousins said they missed my 21st birthday celebration last year, so this year they planned it out just for me. We had seafood at Batu Maung. With 'birthday' mee, crabs (hard and soft shelled) (mom's fav), fish (my fav), squids, frog (dad's fav), asparagus (grandma's fav) it was very filling.. what a variety of seafood. After the hearty meal, my cousins (3 of them), presented the birthday cake, black forest with strawberries (yummy!) on the fluffy white cream. It was made on the spot in the cake house with my cousin watching the baker did it for 30 minutes, coz she wanted it as fresh as possible. Other customers in the shop sang birthday song for me and we distributed the cake for them as well, including the coffee shop's owner.
My cousins also gave me a teddy bear from ty named raindrops. No wonder it's blue in colour! hehe.. I love the blue fur very much, so soft to touch and above it all, the bear looks cool in blue with the polka-dot ribbon. Oh, thank you so much!
With all the delicous food, cake, presents and angpows, I felt like the most VIP birthday gal being celebrated!
Not to forget also the birthday party my friends celebrated for me on the 11th Oct. I had a very satisfying western dish and my friends took the initiative to have 3 in 1 birthday celebrations for the october buddies, which is me and 2 other friends. I had a very nice watch from my friends, and had the steel strap adjusted yesterday so that I can wear it already! =P
Besides that, thank you friends and roommates besides organizing parties, send warm wishes via smses and e-mails. My sincerest thanks and appreciation to all of you... ^-^

Happy Day
Today is my 'chinese birthday', which is first day of eating vegetarian in the month of the 9 emperor gods. Later my gang of friends will belanja me...haha.
Last night I watched the live telecast of our very first astronaut being lauched to space.
I synchronised my time to 21:22 when it was launched. ;-)
On astro channel 558, they had some interviews with our astronauts and also an ex-cosmonaut, besides that historical moment of the rocket blasting off to space.
According to the ex-cosmonaut, an astronaut will witness 16 sunrises and sunsets in one earth day. Which means, a Muslim practising fasting will have 45 minutes of fasting and breaking fast in between. Whoa, must keep tab of that 45 min intervals.
Upon getting itself into orbit it, the space shuttle will travel at 8 km/s that is why the view from up there will be spectacular. U can see everything passing by so fast, live telecast. Not a boring view, eh.. But our dear astronaut will be doing some checkings and experiments up there so no standing by the window for too long to watch the world goes by...haha. But time is travelling fast there, so every 16 sunrises is a new 'day' so it should be cool..
Ok, i gotta go now... my roommate is waiting for me. She's going back to her hometown for this study week. =D

reflections
It is because we are different that each of us is special.
Don't set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you.
This is an extract from a forwarded email. This paragraph seems familiar as I have read it somewhere before. Between year 2002 till early 2004, I have done some poem writings and readings. Inspirational poems can be found plenty on the internet. Some touching ones are also beautifully done by the authors. Some, though, have hidden meanings that is hard to interpret. Any way, it's a good reminder once a while to reflect on ourselves.
This Monday, 2 tests! Arghh... this sem always 2 tests in one day. I feel stressful... I can't finish studying and it's tough..
Another extract from the same email:
Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.
The weather today is so nice! Rainy season. =p

busy again...
Recap of what has been happening so far...
My internet connection had been down for the past few weeks. Called tm several times. They tried fixing it a few times. However as I type this entry now, the internet is up and running as normal again. Yup, after 2 weeks of several attempts to fix this thing. Weird, today suddenly can use. I hope it lasts for long...unlike yesterday, connection keep on failing.
Anyway, this few days busy doing assignment. On wed is the presentation. our group will be conducting it in german language. If english of course still ok...but in german, that will be scary.
Next, my test is this thursday. Possiblity 2 tests instead of one. yikes, i am totally blur...
Yesterday pop quiz cannot answer at all. Homework also undone.
Gotta go and do these things asap.
Still motivating myself to keep on trying but it's so tiring...

Half-a-sem
Since it's halfway going to end, all the tests are coming in very fast. Some subjects have not started the first test out of the two tests, so means lots of cramming on last minute thingy.
I am kinda lost in my german. Hard to pick up....test coming. The tape/cd whenever being played....makes up into this situation:
no matter how hard i try to listen, the german accent is so deep. previous level still ok, coz limited words and vocab..but now the gap is so large. many grammar based sentences, new words and expressions. I listen once get nothing. Listen twice get 2 words. Listen 3 times, get 3 words?? Oh no...max times to listen is 3 la..and i don't have that kinda cd to play many times to my liking..it was supposed to be a 6 to 12 sentences or one paragraph of passage...
Coming up.. listening test. I hope my ears listen well, and of course understand well, and pick up the meaning as well.
Also, photonics, electronics and other tests...gotta run!

Updates for the past 2 weeks
From 8th to 12th August I went to KL for the convention. 2 sleepless nights prior to the trip was due to preparations that had to be made.
The trip down KL was research based so we made many stops along the highway to take down datas. The trip started at 9 am from Penang and ended in KL at 9 pm, equivalent to reaching Singapore by bus. =p
We detoured to many places such as from the Butterworth toll, right up to the Perak region such as Kamunting, Taiping (including the lake), Sungkhai, Sungai Kalah, Ipoh. Also, we stopped to take pictures and readings of limestone hills and oil palm estates.
Armed with gadgets worth more than RM 100K and travelling 5 in one Ford Ranger truck, we were like researcher freaks who took every opportunity to snap, jot, set up and did some calibration. Moreover, the truck is a yellow in colour bearing the name School of Physics so we better behaved ourselves coz we were carrying our Uni's name. Haha...
We worked as quickly as possible to avoid unwanted attention. Carrying those equipments bearing the label Hak Milik PP Fizik means we do not want those things to be stolen, or we, being hijacked.
Curious onlookers asked what were we doing. we replied... adequate to answer their questions.
When we reached KL and by the time we reached our hotel, things we not as they were expected. We checked in into one of the most faulty 3 star hotel room that I have ever came across. We thought after a tiring day we can relax...only to dicovered first, we 3 girls who shared the room started to sneeze. We noticed that the air in the room is the culprit. The room clearly looked dusty. I pointed out that the desks and cupboards beneath is covered with at least 3mm of dust! It was unoccupied for many weeks or the housekeeping is not doing their job?...minus the cob webs...thank goodness. It was late so we just took bath, unpack our things, stored the expensive equipment in the safe and called it a day. But our stomachs were rumbling, so we decided to have supper. We went to a mamak stall nearby and had roti canai. Upon coming back, we discovered that the lights in our room is faulty.
Slide the card a few times and the lights won't turn on. One moment only the front portion lights will on, another moment nothing at all. After several attempts, we managed to lit up the room. There were no jug kettle but there were 3 in 1 sachets of coffee and tea. Weird, we need hot water to prepare those drinks. We picked up the phone and it's dead. The line is out of order. So we requested for a jug kettle, and informing the telephone prob, by taking the lift from the 23rd floor down to the lobby. The kettle arrived-nearly 2 am when we nearly fell asleep.
Thurday night was even funnier. We had a short circuit. The room just blackout when it was just fine a moment ago. Again, we took the ever so slow lift down to complain. There at the receptionist counter we witnessed a rude receptionist raising his voice over a tourist who merely wanted to change room. That explained the condition of this terrible hotel. Oh ya, upon telling them that we had a blackout, we were told that they were sending a technician up there immediately.
Well, it took 30 minutes! We waited along the corridor in front of our room like stranded occupants. We found out that our neighbour is facing the same problem and the kind lady lend us to use her phone to call them to ask why it took them so long. Finally, the technician arrived and electricity is restored. But the card problem had not been solved. So every trip back will be a few attempts on the card to keep all the lights on. =(
We did not lodge complain anymore coz 1. any complains will mean at least 15 minutes spent on the queue...the service is xtremely slow. 2. By the time we reach our hotel, it's always late at night. Always caught in jam, getting lost and at the same time exploring places, looking for nice food in PJ area- after the convention ended at 6pm every day. 3. We try to avoid unknown repairmen to come in to fix the room when we were away... too many valuable things hidden in the room.
During the convention, we had lots of experiences. There were many visitors. Some were very positive and responsive. Some, unfortunately were very negative and kept critisizing when we can't even finish stating our point. They try to put their disatisfaction across when actually they are unhappy about something and tried to involve us as a whole.
We ended the thing by gaining silver after the convention ended on sunday. At least we did not come home empty handed. There were many improvements that can be made to our product in future. This time public unis are stressing on products which can be commercialised, and most importantly, sustainable. Hence, to be able to attract business partners, our products must have these aspects and they must be reliable. Researchers who come up with these products must have the knowledge to develop and market these products properly. They must be convincing, and they too must keep improvising the product till it is fully reliable.
After a exhausting trip and adventure there I went back to lectures on monday.
Tuesday night before my night class, a mishap happened. Accident. on the 14 august, exactly 2 months before my birthday.
I was unhurt but my car...what a waste. Side front portion and driver side door . My tyre absorbed the impact. So the tyre was sacrificed. My car was dragged to the opposite side coz i can't steer it when the tyre is rammed. I can't even open the door properly to get out coz it's stucked. Horrible. The oncoming car did not break - on time. He came fast and I had judged his distance wrongly with his speed. I am lucky to be here.. still able to do things that I wish to do.
I shall never attempt to cross a 4 lane road from a junction. I don't want to take anymore risk. No matter how experienced I am next time.

Final Year
It's never easy to decide. If I were to further my studies, in what field I want to focus? Work ...to support my finances. Like my roommate jokingly say, "Next year you'll be a corporate lady and become an EPF contributor. Must be very busy till no time to have lunch with me". Whoa, EPF contributor is emphasised.
Very true in the sense that working can be very hectic. Study life is different. Although studies got lots of hurdles and stress, it is from a different perspective.
Hey roommate, I will keep my promise that I will once in a while visit and have lunch with you...since you always complain you have '2 long' years.
About my feelings towards this final year, the pressure is on, but with greater intensity. Since the final year project taking off soon and many papers this sem, wahh..~sweats~
I laugh less nowadays..that's sad. I am the cheery type during my secondary school days. Try asking any of my sec. friends-they would agree.
Adding some cheer to my melancholy third year, Smile =) more. Then the world smiles back to you.
And of course, third year shall be a memorable and fun year!

DILULUSKAN!
All the Ujians conducted can take you a few minutes but in reality, driving skills and parental guidance can take you years, if not months to master.
If you are a parent or mom, especially; you are particularly worried to let your child (for daughters) to drive alone. Many unwanted incidents can happen along the way, esp. at night.
So for me, I got my driving licence when I was 17 (after SPM), since then practise 3 times on the road and that's it.
Handling manual car, controlling the clutch and accelerator makes me nervous on the wheel. Eyes must be on the lookout. Letting go clutch too fast or much makes the car choke. Changing gears can make me lost count which gear I am at the moment. Haha.
Mum, if happens to be on board would be nagging from point A to point B. The word "break...break" would be repeated countless times. "chia...chia...(car...car)" would be warned even if other cars is still 10 feet away. It's good to have someone who always look out for you so that you are always on the alert but if every trip is like that...no need normal conversation. The repetitive words sums it up. hehe...
But now my mum trust me to drive alone..ever since on monday. I am thankful of that. I must admit, I still don't venture too far coz my mum will worry for my safety.
But I'm very lucky to have an auto car now. After getting a new car, the car practise lessons started again. A few trips around the neighbourhood. (it was 4 years since I last drove).
Then the new semester had begin. I am in my third and final year of studies!
On the first day of school I told my mom, "Mummy, I drive to school ah..".
Of course first reaction, "Har?? First day of school got many cars, road jam, you are not that used to it yet..let dad follow you first for the first week, later on only drive on your own."
"Eh la..eh la (can la.. can la..) I have confidence to drive on my own. I drive carefully and slowly ok? when I reach my destination I call home ok?"
Since then, first day driving on my own would be declared as on 09.07.07, first day of my third year first sem.
Till today, if I plan to drive home from school or upon reaching the hostel, I will give a call back home. Skills not that perfect yet so I know my limits and taking it slowly. No point speeding, so I plan the journey earlier before my class start.
Oh ya, Penang drivers always don't have the habit to give signals. They reach a corner and staright away take the turn. They are also very impatient...they honk if you're a lil slow-even though you are in the left lane! What are left lanes for then?
That's my Lulus story...
p/s: Auntie Lilian, Jeff would be fine. My mom too, dare not ride my car when I first got my licence. Mom's first instinct when their kids first get their licences. =D
First few trips, let dad to the accompanying job, then you'll feel more comfortable after your son is more careful on the road. All the best and Happy Riding!

07.07.07
Oh my goodness, it's not that I have forgotten this blog, just that I've been busy with work.
My industrial training came to an end yesterday, 6 july 07 and yesterday was the day I went to register for my course for this semester.
I had a presentation on my last day of internship. The meeting was called a technical forum. So it was one-hour-Q&A forum for the whole department to share.
Since there are only two presenters, me and another coursemate; I estimated both of us will have a half-an hour presentation each. Prior to that I had to prepare more stuff to present besides the assignment they let me did coz or else my presentation will only last 10-15 minutes if I don't add in extra stuff.
I include whatever things I have learnt since the first week, coz during the first week I was given a stack of notes to study. Some semicon notes and physics related stuff. The presentation went on smoothly, just that I was stuck in one of the slides. I can't explain the coplanarity problems an electronic device properly. Till now, I still have difficulty explaining that. It was kinda embarrassing in that particular section. Surprisingly, nobody interrupted and say, "I don't understand what you are trying to explain. I guess what you wanted to say about coplanarity is bla bla bla...". So I was there with lots of pauses and urm ah...em...em.. and moved on with the next slide. But luckily it was not the main thing on my agenda. small matter. So I went on till the end.
Came to one part, instead of being asked, I threw a question to my supervisor. I remembered I was given to do the assignment and I worked for 2 weeks, got the results until he gave another version of that same thing. I had to find all the differences between first and second version till I was so 'fuming' inside because actually he already had that latest version and did not gave me till 2 weeks later. The earlier version of course, it's not important anymore as it is considered outdated. So instead of showing my disagreement openly, I asked "*****, didn't in the meeting last time you said you'll check the discrepancy of the data because the old version and new version have differences by the way they are measured?"
He went on answering "Ya. bla bla" so fast I didn't catch what he said coz he used many terms that I'm not familiar. Gee, this supervisor ah........*cekik*cekik*
But matter is resolved as I have done my part with that latest version so end of story. I just wanted to highlight to him that next time give interns a latest thing to work on, don't let them suffer first or do double work. =p
Oh ya, we had a great time yesterday. After that presentation we had a farewell lunch at Paddington House of Pancakes @ QB. I realised that eating delicious and special pancakes can cost 20 times nore than the normal pancakes I buy from foodstall. Ha ha. But PHOP do have unique flavours and a variety of pancakes that will tempt you to try it out. Afterall, the farewell lunch is paid by the company so even more worth it. =D
After lunch, head back to factory, get some things done and I went back to USM and register. Next, went to hostel, register. Met up with roommate. Went home and attended wedding dinner of my uncle's secretary. She's very close to us too and knows our family very well. Kinda like old friends. I knew her 9 years ago. She helped me print my assignment coz I don't have a printer yet at that time. So sweet. =)
After dinner went to TESCO till 1 am to shop for groceries. Wah, so tired after I came back.
What a day. My training was a good experience. I shall keep this in mind and till then, it's back to studies on monday!

Achieving Targets
In setting those targets we also need to estimate our capability and ability in doing the task. In the process of setting these targets we can understand ourselves better and hence keep improving ourselves till we gradually get there. It may take time but the important thing is to be satisfied with what we have done and keep trying our best.
At the end of the day we can wear a smile because we gave our best, no matter what way other people might see it. Self satisfaction is much healthier and happier than to worry about people's views.

Project Turnover
I found out that I will be given another totally different project instead. The reason: this project is more urgent than the previous one and need immediate attention. What happened to the previous one? Being HANGED on for the moment.
For now, time is running out and I need to shift focus to the current one. Part and parcel of the working world eh? Yup, need to discard the disappointment upon hearing this news. -_-""
So, a fresh new start on the next project. =p

Project Handover
I am still at step no. 1 - to read the whole thing. They had done their part in documenting them and it's my duty to read and laarn from what they had written. The notes given for the past week serve as the fundemental things I need to know about the processes that is involved in my dept. So this week the materials are going more in depth....I hope i won't sink into deepness and have difficulty floating! =p

Third Day
Actually there is nothing much to do in work but lots of things to study. The materials given are new stuff, nothing familiar to what we studied in uni but CERTAINLY has Physics and Maths in it and more on semicons...to the very minute detail....it's a semiconductor company so what else do we expect to learn in detail right?
Looks like I can never escape from books even though exams are over!
But I am looking forward to next week...lesser study and going to get some hands on some interesting stuff from all da things being studied throughout this week. However, one problem does arise....I asked is it whatever I studied is related to what is installed next week. I got "Emm...ya but maybe not also...it depends. I am not sure. You'll see next week". -_-""
So i was thinking "Emm...ya...so I study to improve my knowledge. Don't care whether got related or not..." -_-"" Whatever it is la....no need to hesitate so much. Not much of a use. Something to gain, nothing to lose...hahaha. Must be more +ve.

First Day @ Work
Given notes to study but all seems so new, and nothing much registers in my head. Probably the notes are the concepts that are extremely important to proceed! Oh no! why must study so much of electricity...haaaaa computers also depend on them to work. Everything also must be calculated first,to ensure the best will be produced. -_-"

Decisions
Decisions are also hard to make if there are barriers imposed.
They are even harder if there are a few to be decided once and for all.

Fond memories
She's selling her apartment which was also the art centre where I took my lessons and moving elsewhere. It is so nice of her to inform me that she's moving so that we could still keep it touch..=)
She's currently a full time art teacher. She quit her high paying factory job to spend more quality time with her students, whom she fondly call children. We chatted while watching tv..hehe. All those memories seemed to be like yesterday but it was so long since I last held that brush and paint. I won't be able to draw so well already, but I still can remember her guidance. My art had turned rusty over the years but one day I will pick up the brush and explore art again...yes I will..
BTW, the 2-room apartment is going off at RM 105 K. For small families it's a good investment. It is partially renovated, just had a fresh coat of paint inside, spacious living room (can accomodate up to 10 art children) and it's within 1-2 km from Queensbay Mall! Her new condo cost her more than RM 260 K!

Hired x2
I am confused...I tried explaining that I have already been offered a position already but the lady over the phone said it doesn't matter which one i choose, difference is that I will report to different manager, that's all.
I have yet to receive any directions on what to do next by my previous interviewer but for this second person, I have received all the details which include : I shall start work next monday.
Meanwhile, first interviewer mentioned that I should be working by end of this week..till now no further directions yet...maybe tomorrow..hoping so.
So now a dilemma... same company different job scope. Which one to choose? I have weighed it out...both also have 2 advantages and 2 disadvantages. But which is more important? Considering advantages as more important, it will be offer no.1 which is of my advantage. However, if I choose offer no. 1, the job is more mentally and physically draining. Arghhh... Which one? which one? decide...decide...

Expensive Meal n Lesson
Partly due to the 2nd dish…a pot (a huge one indeed!) of ‘nutritious’ soup. Everyone except my uncle was unaware what it was when it is served into small bowls, assuming it’s just a soup similar to shark’s fin.
Many things in the big pot…ginseng, sea cucumber, chicken, some Chinese herbs etc. However, in some of our bowls (aunt, uncle, grandma and mine) and the remaining in that big pot contained pieces of this black gluey thing. I had a piece in my bowl …
After eating all the familiar stuff in the bowl and drinking the soup, I started to inspect this black thing.
I thought it is the black chicken, common in soups like these too. Though the skin is black, it looks rubbery and transparent, even the meat is peculiar…not like chicken’s meat . It’s redish brown and the meat is not evenly distributed (not in a whole piece, it’s bits here and there and some soft protruding white bones). Not black chicken then what is it?
Across the table my uncle finally spoke “Ou lang gia tiuk pi boh?” (Has anyone taken *** ?
At first I don’t realize what this ‘pi’ thing in Hokkien…but when my aunt says “Ciakliao mia eh can terng sia ka ha leh pi…” (After you have eaten this, your life will be as long as this ***)
Yikes! Oh! ***is actually turtle’s meat!! Or tortoise meat!! Either one, whateva, in the soup!
According to The Star paper today, these wildlife are smuggled into our country and transported to China. A freshwater turtle can cost between RM 100 to RM 200 per kilo! Chinese claims it has medicinal properties and it is a prized delicacy.
Goodness la…Good or no good…I tak termakan …I put that black gluey thing aside and immediately felt full. My grandma said she saw a seller in the market overturning a tortoise so that it will not ‘run’ or crawl away. Grandma did not finish hers. But uncle seems to love it! Afterall, this whole course dinner was selected by him and costed only a few hundred short of RM 1k!!
So no matter what, must not waste…6 courses to go after this main attraction dish.
Uncle: Eileen, so much soup left in this big pot, come I give you some…
Eileen : No thank you uncle. I full already…(waves frantically and gesturing that the soup is up to throat level!) =p
After that dish was taken away, the other dishes were filling, luckily not so exotic: roasted pork, fish, vege, chicken, mee and dessert.
It was a very expensive meal, it cost a bomb and the lesson also expensive! I shall never put turtle/tortoise/snake/pangolins into my mouth…

Today,
Caller2: I am pleased to announce that you are hired!
Me : yay! thank you...
I am excited but have doubts...I will be placed in the lab! Oh no...phobia of handling circuits and the many apparatus..whenever my lab is over in a sem, it's like a celebration! always counting the number of experiments that is going to end...now...more lab sessions in da factory! pengsan...how? Just go ahead and take up the challenge! Cannot turn back anymore..already agree wanna go ahead ma...
Pray that I can survive and not memburukkan nama baik universiti saya, nama baik lecturer and of course, nama baik diri sendiri...
Have plenty to learn...

ToDay...
I encountered mixed feelings today...I also feel giddy after taking in more than 2 hours of sharings…the people there welcomed me with open arms, when they heard I am studying here and this place is a stone's throw away from my campus, they encouraged me to join them. I don’t know why I am speechless, I can’t utter a single word. I didn’t say “Sorry, I won’t” or “Sorry, I am not interested”. They are so nice, kind and took so much effort to make this weekly event so successful till it’s just hard to say a short NO. There will be no ending to this place it seems…there is some line-up going on…the cycle is repeating after it had stopped…
In fact, I found out that my friends who brought me here have links here, and since the world is so small, I am connected to these people as well! I somehow know these people well- since I was young or more than 10 years. And they all converge to this homey place..
This song reminds me of how I wanted to see the other side, to give a chance and discover what Buddhism is :
Come & See (Ehipassiko)
Ehipassiko come and see you’ll know
The Teaching of Peace the Teaching of Love
The Teachings of the Buddha is for all
Who want to be free forever more
But don’t just believe, Investigate
Do not simply accept what you hear or see
Not even if it is uttered by ME
So don’t just agree you’ve got to verify
When you know that it’s good
And it’s praised by the wise
Then live up to it the rest of your life

some uphill task
Learning new concepts and things is not enough...i oso need to think on the applications as well. The higher the learning, the more complicated the thing. I thought I can escape from being so academic oriented since it's holidays but I can't help it.
It's not a choice but a decision made by me. I have chosen to undertake the task of working on a project so I have to embark on it and to do so now. But I am doing this research all alone...I feel like a isolated case, not really knowing exactly what leads to where...I am still trying, my best.

Any ideas or have something to share?
I am assigned by my lecturer to learn up this program which in turn will be used in my final year project.
I have some basic on this program as I have learnt it before in Form 5, but if anyone of you who have completed some assignments using this software with some calculations included, I hope u don’t mind to share the source code with me.
I will be using this software to make calculations on optics, and as a interface to link it to some other light detecting device. My lecturer advised me to start learning up this software this holiday besides some other optics and photonics related theory.
Currently, I am relying on the internet to find all these materials and learn up. If you have any interesting links or any Visual Basic (VB) tips, don’t hesitate to e-mail me at : eileen2085@hotmail.com, or comment below. Your help/guidance/advise is very much appreciated! =)

Wesak Day
This year commemorates the 2551st year of Buddha’s Teaching, which is the demise of the Buddha into Maha Pari-Nibbana.
Among activities carried out on Wesak Day are Puja(offerings), chanting and also to affirm resolutions to improve our practice of the Dhamma.
Wesak Day reminds me of lotus lighting, which I normally do at Mahindarama Temple in Kampar Road, and also float processions (which I adore very much when I was young due to the colourful lights blinking and I also used to wonder how they float on the road like that! I used to think that they really ‘float’!)
Besides reflecting on this Wesak Day, I am also reminded of how I first joined in as a PPB (Persatuan Pelajar Buddhist) member during my second year and how much I have grown in learning the Dhamma.
And a farewell to the seniors who are my facilitators in my class :
Under one roof of dhamma, we share and we care.

Holidays
Completed exams since Friday, ever since then, I have been busy packing all my things from hostel and move it all home. Since all rooms must be completely emptied before the next semester starts, even non-significant stuff like mop, clothes hanger and old newspapers must be cleared.
I have been, all these while sleeping. Getting the much needed rest...ahhh so nice.
It is very crazy to be 24 hours awake a day before the next paper. It's not because really busy burning midnight oil but even as I lie on the bed, the mind keeps activated. At the back of the mind, things that I have studied is ringing behind, bugging me and affects my concentration to sleep. If reverse back 3-4 days before a particular paper, it will be only in between 3 or 4 hours of quality sleep. Remaining hours are just 'shut-eyes' sleep. Sounds like insomnia but nooo I sleep well and good enough this weekend. The weather here is so cooling too...with subsequent rains.
I must plan ahead to do some things or else it will be just another long term sem break..=)

My First Tag and Homework on this Blog lol
Let's indulge awhile in this tag :
1. How do you look like? (explain or attach latest pic)
Ok, I dont have a latest pic...but my animated look is as above. =) Saturated with statistical and quantum formulas....in a daze, but still ok la...Wait till the stars above disappear.
2. Are you satisfied with how you look? If not, which part do you wish to change?
Yes, I am satisfied with how I look. Well, I do wished that I am a lil taller...;)
3. Who do you want to look like? ie. idol or movie star
I just wanna to look like ... myself!. I am VERY unique. :-P
4. If you're given a chance to star in a movie, which movie would you choose and why?
Star in a movie, maybe not. But I do wish I have the chance to be the voiceover for any of the Disney production animation cartoons....preferably those whose character are very cheerful and animated indeed! My voice when it is recorded sounds very childish, like chipmunk.I heard my voice on air 3 times before (once in 8tv and twice through radio)muahaha but in reality of course very soothing to listen.
Thanks CY for the tag...i have learnt what 'tag' is : to give u idea on what to blog if u r out of ideas..=)

EXAMS
Examinations - went through so many years of it. Should be immune to all the stress and symptoms of it, but this time I barely have time to go through my books!
Busy with project datelines, today just passed up that IC project which was given 2 1/2 weeks ago. Busy with 3 tests within 2 weeks till no more time left!
When it comes to uni, last minute cramming will not give u the better picture of the depth in the subject that u r suppose to deal with.
For example, the derivation of a formula or steps are very long. Once or twice glance will not guarantee that in exam we can still remember. Moreover, the final result of the formula also can forget! This happens in 2 out of 3 of my tests...aduhai....so how? take more gingko biloba?
Can strengthen memory so that once read, can remember till in the exam hall! haha
But back to reality, time is so limited now...no matter what must ganbatte!

BZ
We are suppose to come out with a proposal (3 ideas) so far I have one idea with complete circuit. the other two not confirm yet.
Heat temperature alarm........hmmmm hopefully it works. But the components will be bought by the lecturer and we will do it during lab. Which means that if the circuit goes wrong, can ganti summore ah? one circuit...without much time and practice of soldering can make it successful or not? BTW, my knowledge of electronics is minimal wo...
Problem is that we dont have much time left for studies...finals around the corner.
Tomorrow night I have a test form 8-10 pm and the following week on 27 and 30 also 2 tough papers. Really got problem understanding. This week I was sick.. so retired from 3 lectures. Normally, I have full attendance to all lectures througout the sem...haha..obedient student?
But I am back to normal ade..after some good rest. so gotta ganbatte!

Malam Penghargaan (MP)
It is to appreciate the contributions of the seniors, facis, exco members and members who kept this society running for the past 35 years in USM. PPB (Persatuan Pelajar Buddhist) was set up in 11 Nov 1971. At one time it was abolished because it was not registered under the Akta Universiti. But after the ups and downs, it is successfully established as a registered body since the 70s till today.
Among the highlights were: speeches, singing songs, sharing, games, SOM (sharing of merits) and eating!
Most of the sharing were done in Chinese language coz many are from chinese edu background. N evertheless, I more or less understood the rough idea of their thoughts. Some were quite touched by their own experiences and started sheding tears. Others we glad, thankful but everybody was happy.
As for me, being a member of the Upali English Dhamma Sharing Group, I am grateful to have 4 wonderful facis who guided me in learning the dhamma. Before this, I have not known much about Buddhism. My conception was that there is nothing much to learn just pray nia.
Anyway, we are going through the learning process every day. We learn, anaylse and accept what we think is rational. Its hard to predict what will happen in the future but we must be grateful for our past experiences that help us shape what we are today.

I am glad that finally, after 6 days, I have managed to write out my whole bengkel 'workshop' report on machines.
It was horrible trying to find out what part of the machine is for what, what tool is needed to do what.... now I learnt some new machinery terms: a spiral flute tap, straight flute tap that comes with adjustable wrench, headstock, tailstock, VH Gage etc.
Doing the report took up most of my time. Plus, I had not finish my lab report which needs to be passed up on monday. On monday itself I have test and on next friday, 2 tests. Then, I have another electronics project after my bengkel session which will begin next week. A project when it's so near to the finals is a disaster. By the time completed, it will be April! No more time to study!!
I have dizzy spells these days due to lack of sleep. Sleeping for max 4-5 hours for 4 days in a row is bad for health. I need to keep myself awake to get things done wor...
My new url (which I will reveal later on) after I have done all the 'furnishings' will be quite late. So be patient ya.. xD

Late and Latest Update....~Happy Chap Goh Meh!!~
Today its Chap Goh Meh. It signifies the last day of chinese new year after 15 days of celebration. Nothing much to do today, I'm still stuck here in front of my laptop. Ya maybe I should go out and throw oranges! haha but where ah? in rivers/lakes? Ha..Usm has 2 lakes : Tasik Harapan and Tasik Aman. Try throwing in one of these lakes and who will grab em.......monitor lizards! muahaha. Ya we have these 'biawaks' residing in these lakes. They range from young kids to old grandparents. Haiya, what a horrible idea. Next, some announcements:

It's cool to have this meet! For one, as a new blogger, I get to meet so many expert bloggers here. Surprisingly, met up with some familiar faces: some ex-georgians and tuition mates. They too have a blog!! lol
The most featured performance in this meet is the host, LogicYuan, my aunt 5xmom and Cedric. LogicYuan is the host for this meeting so he's busy arranging stuff, taking attendence, clearing space (in the Starbucks) so that we all have air-cond! lol
5xmom- haha...everyone is anticipating her appearance. She's got the aura of a true Penangite blogger!! She's the choy san yeh for today. Each of us got angpow from her. ~Keong Hee Keong Hee~ Everyone so happy to get red packet from this mom. haha
Cedric - Next to LogicYuan making noises is him la. Anyway, in any meetings if got somebody who is an extrovert can 'memeriahkan suasana'.
As for me, I was very quiet. Actually in some situations I appear to be the very silent mode type. I like to smile smile a lot =). It's my 'trademark' since secondary school. But if I am very familiar with anyone or around my close buddies, I chat a lot. So don't misinterpret! Today due to not enough sleep brain not working well. Ha ha. So short circuit sikit...(smile smile)The night before I rush to finish assignment till 4 am. Uni student life...
Thanks for the wonderful pics. I will download n upload after everybody with cameras done theirs. Have a great week ahead!

Chinese New Year !
HaPPy ChiNese New YeaR
Hi there! Since CNY is just around the corner and this blog seems so quiet, let's listen to.....
He Xin Nian song!Click here to download:
download here
How was it? Nice or not?
To all the singers, next year improve on the enthusiasm.
You all have the voice to sing a wonderful CNY song but need more voice projection.
I think, ppl who are 'bananas' like me, yeah I cant read or write in chinese sing the song more cautiously because scared later pronounce the word wrongly. =p
So if proper practise is done then a beautiful song is produced. haha, no?
Main point: If wanna bear listening the song or playing it for more than once, this song is not a song u wanna let it play in your ears for long. BUT,
if motive is to put ppl away and just for fun, you have succeeded! ;D lol
Let's run through CNY check list:
1. Cleaned the house
2. Have cookies in stock
3. Bought CNY clothes
4. Goodies given to neighbours
5. Have a bit of deco in the house
So all ready for CNY. The unfinished things are :
my lab report! I am getting blurrer on this OTDR! ha the waveform looks all the same and suppose to have difference.
my assignment!
ok gtg...

Hello and welcome to my blog, bloggers and friends. Yeah, now eileenisblogging. Let me tell you about my history of blogging/keeping a diary/personal journal... throughout this 21 years I never blog, the last time I kept a diary-when I was 11 years old! Even the diary is now missing! The last time I wrote a journal- 6 years ago. It was only 2 pages! Haha...
SO what makes me start writing on this particular day? It's up to you ppl to answer. Of course, answer is provided. =D
A. Because it's 14.02 . It's a special date (but I've got no dates..ha!). Add numbers you get 7, my fav no. BTW, my birthdate is 14 oct. Now I am 21 yrs, and 4 mths old. Add again get 7?? =p
B. Because 5Xmom is celebrating her 2nd blog anniversary..(well, she's my aunt, a famous blogger)haha
C. Because I have something Very important to tell/announce.....
D. Because I missed the chance to blog previously.
E. Because suddenly I've got inspiration to write!
The answer is.......
........
.............
..................
A!!
Huh???A??Well, the reason: If I wanna create something new, I always like to choose a significant date. So that I can remember that particular date. You see, I have not been keeping diaries so I can't remember what happened on a significant day. The rest like examination dates, I mark on calendar. Friends' birthdays I keep in my memory. Sometimes forget oso!
All in all, time to 'record' wonderful things that had or will happen in my life.Ha. This time, an electronic record that will not get misplaced.
Finally, Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! Have a nice day and take care.
