DILULUSKAN!

In relation to 5xmom's post on Lulus. Let me share with you my driving experience...
All the Ujians conducted can take you a few minutes but in reality, driving skills and parental guidance can take you years, if not months to master.
If you are a parent or mom, especially; you are particularly worried to let your child (for daughters) to drive alone. Many unwanted incidents can happen along the way, esp. at night.
So for me, I got my driving licence when I was 17 (after SPM), since then practise 3 times on the road and that's it.

Handling manual car, controlling the clutch and accelerator makes me nervous on the wheel. Eyes must be on the lookout. Letting go clutch too fast or much makes the car choke. Changing gears can make me lost count which gear I am at the moment. Haha.
Mum, if happens to be on board would be nagging from point A to point B. The word "break...break" would be repeated countless times. "chia...chia...(car...car)" would be warned even if other cars is still 10 feet away. It's good to have someone who always look out for you so that you are always on the alert but if every trip is like that...no need normal conversation. The repetitive words sums it up. hehe...
But now my mum trust me to drive alone..ever since on monday. I am thankful of that. I must admit, I still don't venture too far coz my mum will worry for my safety.

But I'm very lucky to have an auto car now. After getting a new car, the car practise lessons started again. A few trips around the neighbourhood. (it was 4 years since I last drove).
Then the new semester had begin. I am in my third and final year of studies!
On the first day of school I told my mom, "Mummy, I drive to school ah..".
Of course first reaction, "Har?? First day of school got many cars, road jam, you are not that used to it yet..let dad follow you first for the first week, later on only drive on your own."
"Eh la..eh la (can la.. can la..) I have confidence to drive on my own. I drive carefully and slowly ok? when I reach my destination I call home ok?"
Since then, first day driving on my own would be declared as on 09.07.07, first day of my third year first sem.

Till today, if I plan to drive home from school or upon reaching the hostel, I will give a call back home. Skills not that perfect yet so I know my limits and taking it slowly. No point speeding, so I plan the journey earlier before my class start.

Oh ya, Penang drivers always don't have the habit to give signals. They reach a corner and staright away take the turn. They are also very impatient...they honk if you're a lil slow-even though you are in the left lane! What are left lanes for then?

That's my Lulus story...

p/s: Auntie Lilian, Jeff would be fine. My mom too, dare not ride my car when I first got my licence. Mom's first instinct when their kids first get their licences. =D
First few trips, let dad to the accompanying job, then you'll feel more comfortable after your son is more careful on the road. All the best and Happy Riding!
